Tehran summons UAE diplomat over Iranians death

Tehran summons an Emirati diplomat over the death of Seyyed Ali Hosseini, an Iranian national who was held in custody by UAE security forces.

In the absence of the UAE ambassador, we summoned the charg d'affaires to express Irans outrage and state the necessity of creating conditions and facilities to investigate and clarify the real aspects of the incident," said Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham.

Following reports about the arrest of three Iranian nationals by Emirati security forces two weeks ago, the Iranian mission in the UAE sent notes to the Emirati foreign ministry to request consular access, she added.
However, the country did not issue any official statement about the arrests of the late Seyyed Ali Hosseini and the two other Iranian nationals, said Afkham.
Afkham said the friend ministry has dispatched a representative to the UAE to investigate the matter immediately.

The three Iranians were arrested by Emirati security forces on suspicion of abducting another Iranian citizen named Abbas Yazdanpanah who went missing in Dubai on June 25.

Afkham said in November that any reports incriminating Iran in the "alleged (role) of kidnapping or murdering him are ridiculous and sheer lies."
