German MP: EU has to surpass Geneva Deal content in removing Iran sanctions

Berlin, Jan 18, IRNA The German Parliamentarian Jan van Akenhas said the European countries should go beyond the content of the nuclear deal between Iran and the 5+1 in removing sanctions.

He made the remarks while talking to IRNA on the threshold of the European Union (EU) foreign ministerial meeting in Brussels on Jan 30 which is to discuss ways to remove parts of anti-Iran sanctions.

He said that the EU countries have to take steps beyond the commitments of the Geneva deal and speed up success of the talks.

The former United Nations expert for mass killing weapons referred to the pressures being imposed on the US government to increase sanctions against Iran and said some extremist elements on both sides are the most important obstacles on the ways of success of the joint action plan reached by the two sides in November 2013.

Aken also said the two sides have to take effective steps to gradually overcome the existing long-standing distrust between them.
