Zarif back home, wraps up regional tour, Moscow visit

Moscow, Jan 17, IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his accompanying delegation returned to Tehran on Friday morning after wrapping up their regional tour to four regional countries and meeting with Russian officials.
Zarif met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his one-day visit to Moscow.

The Iranian foreign minister and the senior Russian officials discussed bilateral issues and some regional and international topics of mutual interest.

The Russian president stressed that Iran?s participation in the upcoming Geneva II conference is very appealing for Russia, and said, ?Iran is an important and irreplaceable country for resolving the problems.?

Putin said that Iran and Russia have a big agenda for expansion of bilateral ties.

The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, said that he conveys the the warmest greeting of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani, adding, ?The Islamic Republic of Iran?s officials consider a lot of importance to your role (Putin?s role) in bilateral relations as well as international peace and security.?
