Iran and Syria are Russia's major geopolitical victories over the past 10 years, Rosnano Head Anatoly Chubais told journalists on Thursday. And another such victory is Syria," he said answering the question about the expediency of a big oil contract between Russia and Iran.

Preliminary agreements on Iran's nuclear programme were reached at the talks between Iran and the delegation of the six international mediators, including the USA, Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany, which is led by the EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton, in Geneva in late November last year.


Among other things, it is planned that Iran will sharply limit uranium enrichment in exchange for the gradual easing of international sanctions against Tehran.


To convene the Geneva-2 peace conference on Syria is the initiative of Russia and the USA. It is due to take place in Montreux in Switzerland on January 22nd.


Besides, earlier the USA agreed to discuss the destruction of Syria�s chemical weapons and gave up the idea to hitting Syria.
