Tehran, Jan 15, IRNA – Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said here on Wednesday that Takfiri groups are chewing Muslims unity from inside like termites.
Addressing a group of judiciary officials, the Ayatollah criticized dangers posed to the Islamic community by Takfiri and Salafi groups.
The meeting was held on the occasion of the Islamic Unity Week, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
The Islamic Unity Week was initiated by the late Imam Khomeini following the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979. Since its inception, the Islamic Unity Week has been marked annually, not only in Iran, but also throughout the world, and has played an important role in bringing various Islamic Schools of Thought on a single platform.
Ayatollah Larijani stressed the need for preserving unity by different Islamic sects to fight against extremist groups .
The Takfiri and Salafi currents are by no means related to Islam and are created by the West to weaken Islamic communities worldwide, he said.
He urged all Muslims to preserve unity and boycott Takfiri and terrorist groups.
