Zarif warns of spread of extremism across region

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned of the expansion of extremism and violence across the region.
"No country will benefit the rise of extremist and violent thoughts. The damage of this type of viewpoint will even include all regional states and their supporters," Zarif said in a meeting with Lebanon's prime minister-designate Tammam Salam in Beirut.

He further expressed satisfaction over the formation of government in Lebanon and stressed that Iran is ready to assist establishment of Lebanese government.

Elsewhere, regarding Syrian developments, Zarif reiterated that crisis in the country should be resolved through talks, "Continuation of the current situation in Syria is not in favor of any of governments in the region and this is only the Zionist regime which benefits of the current situation."

Salam, for his part, outlined the interior political process in Lebanon formulated over last week in the country and expressed the hope that the process reach desirable point.

Salam, also highlighted the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran as an influential country in the region and world.
