Kish Island jolts fifth time in three days
Kish Island, Hormozgan province, Jan 12, IRNA An earthquake measuring 3.7 on Richter scale jolted Kish Island in the early Sunday morning for the fifth time in the past three days.
According to the report of seismography center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 00:32 hours local time (21:02 hours Saturday GMT) and its epicenter was at 26.71 degrees latitude and 53.99 degrees longitude and in depth of 10 kilometers underground.

Residents of the island experienced four tremors on Thursday and Friday, but none of them had any casualties or damage.

Tremors measuring 4.5 and 3.9 on Richter scales jolted the island on Friday at 11.42 and 18:00 hours local time and 4.3 and 5.0 Richter on Thursday at 09:43 and 12:01 hours on Thursday.

Head of Crisis Headquarters and Managing Director of the Kish Free Zone Organization Ali Asghar Monesan said that necessary preparations to help people in case of possible damage have been made.

A temporary camping area with more than 400 tents are prepared for emergency cases.

Kish Island, by hosting around 30,000 people is the most beautiful Island in the Persian Gulf; it is 18 kilometers far from southern coast and its distance from Bandar Abbas, capital of Hormozgan province, is 300 kilometers.
