UN stresses again on importance of Iran’s role in Geneva 2

New York, Jan 9, IRNA – An spokesman of the UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon said that the secretary general and his special envoy in Syrian affairs Lakhdar Brahimi both believe in importance and necessity of Iran’s presence in Geneva 2 Conference on Syria. 

Farhan Haq, in a press conference, told reporters in spite of firm support of the UN secretary general, his special envoy Lakhdar Brahimi and officials from many other countries, Iran has not been invited to the conference because of certain powersˈ disagreement.

International peace conference on Syria is to be held on January 22 in Switzerland with the participation of representatives from 30 countries.
