Quake shakes Kish Island in southern Iran

Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Prov, Jan 9, IRNA An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale shook Kish Island in this southern province Thursday morning.

According to the country?s seismological base, the quake occurred at 09:43 hours local time (0613 GMT).


The quake was epicentered in an area located at 26.74 degrees latitude and 53.95 degrees longitude.

There is no report on any damage caused by the quake.

Kish Island, 90 square km, is a beautiful island in the Persian Gulf. It is situated 300 km from Bandar Abbas, the provincial capital.
