China-Iran cooperation based on mutual interest, diplomat

Beijing, Jan 9, IRNA – China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said Wednesday evening that Tehran-Beijing trade and energy cooperation is based on mutual interest.

“China carries out open, transparent and normal cooperation in energy and business with countries in the Middle East, including Iran.

“This kind of cooperation, which is mutually beneficial, does no harm to the interests of any other party, neither does it violate Chinaˈs international obligation,” said she.

According to China’s statistics, the country has imported daily 350,000 to 540,000 barrels of oil from Iran in the past two years despite the West unilateral sanctions against Tehran.
