Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA – Head of Strategic Research Center affiliated to the State Expediency Council (SEC) Ali Akbar Vellayati announced that the research center will provide consultation services to the Iraqi Supreme Islamic Council.
Vellayati pointed to his meeting with former Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdel Mahdi, and said, ˈIt was decided in this meeting that the potentials of this center and other parallel institutions will be used for giving consultations to Iraqˈs supreme council.ˈ
He said that Abdel Mahdi has had an effective role in establishment of the democratic government in Iraq, adding, ˈDuring the talks and exchange of ideas, it was decided that this research center and similar centers which fall within the scope of activities of Iraqˈs supreme council should cooperate with each other in joint bilateral issues at national and international levels.
Asked about the current situation in Al-Anbar provinceˈs incidents, he responded that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has taken control of Al-Ramadi city, but the general consensus for confronting them is in Iraq.
