One-on-one talks to curb Zionist sway: Iran MP

One-on-one talks between Iran and the members of the Sextet of world powers will rein in Tel Avivs influence to derail a recent nuclear deal, says an Iranian parliamentarian.
Separate negotiations with the six states could increase the chances of neutralizing or dampening the influence of the Zionist lobby, said Mansour Haqiqatpour, the vice-chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Majlis.

Bilateral (one-on-one) talks can contribute to collective decisions by the P5+1, he said, adding that the idea of holding such negotiations indicates that Iran pursues a rational policy.

The Iranian negotiating team enjoys the backing of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials of the country, and therefore it has a free hand to diversify its negotiating methods in the nuclear talks, added the legislator.
Perhaps in one-on-one talks and by offering various proposals to the European side, the influence of the Zionist lobby will decrease, he noted.
The Iranian legislator made the remarks following a recent proposal by Ali Akbar Velayati, the diplomatic advisor to Ayatollah Khamenei. Velayati had called for one-on-one negotiations between Iran and the Sextet of world powers.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States -- plus Germany sealed an interim agreement in Geneva on November 24 to set the stage for the full resolution of the decade-old dispute with Tehran over its nuclear energy program.

The deal was sealed much to the dismay of the Israeli regime which spared no effort to prevent the deal and is currently bent on sabotaging the agreement.

Under the deal, the six countries have undertaken to ease some of the existing sanctions against the Islamic Republic in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period. It was also agreed that no more sanctions would be imposed on Iran within the same time frame.
