'National plan for reducing air pollution will be ratified next week'

TEHRAN, Dec. 30 (MNA) The national plan for reducing air pollution in the country will be approved in a meeting of the High Council of Environment next week, Department of Environment chief Masoumeh Ebtekar told IRNA on Sunday.
Ebtekar had attended a closed session of the parliament on Sunday to present a report about air pollution to MPs.

She said she requested the parliament to help the Department of Environment to implement environmental plans.

The vice president said she told MPs that meetings are underway with related bodies to draw up a plan to reduce air pollution and it will be put into action soon.

After this ratification all bodies will be tasked to present and implement their plans for production of standard fuel, car, power plants and all the things that cause air pollution.

She said the country is facing the three serious issues of water management and consumption, energy use, and dust storm which in all cases the support of Majlis is needed.

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the parliament is ready to help the government to tackle the air pollution.
