Iran has agreed to provide Iraq with technical services for oil well drilling operations, a deputy head of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) says.

NIDC intends to be present in the drilling market of Iraq and the countrys southern cities, Mohammad Reza Takayedi said on Sunday.

Under an agreement signed between the two neighbors, he said, Iranian drilling engineers will train Iraqi technicians.

Tayakedi also stated that NIDC is seeking to operate drilling projects on the basis of engineering, procurement and drilling (EPD) scheme.

In October, NIDC and the Iraqi Drilling Company signed a cooperation pact, based on which Iran will provide Iraq with personnel training and supervision of Iraqi drilling operations.

NIDC operates over 70 drilling rigs and is able to provide full range of technical and engineering services as a leading company in the region.

The Iranian company is currently implementing drilling projects on a turnkey basis in phases 14, 17 and 18 of the giant South Pars gas field as well as Kish gas field.

On July 21, Iran signed an agreement with Iraq to deliver natural gas to its western neighbor.

Based on the agreement, 25 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas will be delivered to Sadr, Baghdad and al-Mansouryah power plants through pipeline.

The 270-kilometer pipeline is estimated to earn Iran USD 3.7 billion a year in revenue.
