Rouhaniˈs WAVE proposal crucial for Iraq: scholar

Baghdad, Dec 29, IRNA – Head of the Iraqi Center for Strategic Studies here on Sunday described the United Nationˈs adopted resolution based on Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s proposal for a World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) as very crucial for Iraq.

Talking to IRNA, Wathiq Al-Hashimi underlined that this proposal would play a key role in combating terrorism in Iraq.

The proposal is also very important for regional countries and nations, he said, urging other countries to pave the way for implementation of the WAVE Act.

The UN General Assembly voted by consensus on Dec 19 to approve the WAVE Act, which calls on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.

Under the resolution, the General Assembly would urge all member states to unite against violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, as well as sectarian violence.
