Iran UN mission receives threat letter with Israeli stamp

A parcel containing a threatening letter and several dried insects has been sent to the permanent mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in New York.

The parcel bearing an Israeli post stamp arrived at the mission on Thursday, and the letter inside contained threats of a microbial attack against the mission's staff, IRNA reported.
Those who are enemy to Israel will be targeted by a viral attack, the letter read in part.
Employees at Irans permanent mission to the UN immediately reported the case to American officials who dispatched an antimicrobial team to investigate the incident.

Fortunately, there has been no report of viral infection among the staff of the Iranian mission to the UN.

On December 18, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said the IRGC has put measures to counter bioterrorism and laser terrorism high on its agenda.

On October 29, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, a senior military adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said Irans passive defense should keep watch on all enemy moves in order to counter potential threats.
