Around 500 militants killed in fierce clashes with Syrian army in Adra Al-Amalieh

TEHRAN (FNA)- Around 500 Al-Qaeda terrorists have been killed in the clashes with the Syrian army in the town of Adra Al-Amalieh in Damascus countryside so far, informed military sources announced on Wednesday.


"A sum of 480 terrorists of the total 2,000 militants stationed in Adra Al-Amalieh have been killed in heavy clashes with the Syrian army so far," an informed Syrian military source told FNA.

The military source pointed to the determination of the Syrian army to continue its military operations in Adra until a complete mop-up of all terrorists, and said, The Syrian army troops have managed to achieve considerable success in several fronts in Adra.

On Wednesday, the army units regained control of several buildings in the Eastern side of the Electricity Post of Adra Al-Amalieh after fierce clashes with armed rebels.

Meantime, the engineering unit of the army defused several improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that the militants had planted inside the buildings.

Syria has been experiencing unrest and deadly battles since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs and terrorists against both the army and the civilians.

Tens of thousands of people have been killed since terrorist and armed groups turned protest rallies into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
