Air pollution in the Iranian capital has reached alarming levels

Air pollution in Iran's cities has reached alarming levels this is due to several reasons. One natural process is making it worse, inversion, as it's trapping pollution close to the ground acting as a cap on the city. But what is the cause of the pollution itself, this is what the people of Tehran think.
"The main reason for air pollution as I believe is the petrol that has been produced, and does not meet international standards," a person in Enghelan square said. "The pollution is because of the cars in the streets and all of them are carrying a single passenger, while we used public transportation despite my sister being ill.

"Now we see while its winter people wear only a t-shirt or nothing much at home and warm up the house instead of dressing up for the weather, this is while we see in the world people dress up at homes in winter "Particulate matter based on their size and amount come from various sources, if the diameter of the particles are big it's coming from mechanical activities and if its small it's coming from combustion sources ." It seems the issue is more complicated than what it seems, at a conference held in Tehran, experts were looking to study solutions from other countries and to find a solution that suits Iran. "The issue of air pollution is very complex, it comes from various sources and the atmosphere tends to transform it and also the inversion we have in place now makes the situation in winter worse, we have to study this issue and the methods used in other locations can help but cannot be used directly as our situation is different.

" Iran's parliament is also entering the fight against air pollution. "Factories should be distanced from metropolitans and old vehicles should be removed from citities, but Most importantly the problem should be studied and evaluated and then all responsible bodies the parliament along with the government, and municipalities should work together to solve this issue." Experts say a similar problem involving lead in fuels and carbon monoxide in the air was solved 10 years ago with all bodies joining force. They say a similar tactic should be implemented to solve this problem and it can be done in the next few years.
