Syrian army targets militants in several areas

TEHRAN (FNA)- Syrian army units on Wednesday carried out operations against militants' gatherings, eliminating militant groups and destroying their weapons and equipment in several areas around the country.


Dozens of militants killed in Homs

Army units destroyed weapons cache and militants' dens, some of which belong to the so called the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) in Homs, killing many militants who attempted to attack al-Rastan Dam guarding personnel, SANA reported.

A military source said that an army unit destroyed militants' dens and a tunnel they were digging near Mostafa Basha Mosque in Bab Hood neighborhood, killing many militants and injuring others.

The source added that militants' gatherings were destroyed in Keesin village and al-Sheikh Ibrahim al-Hakim area in al-Rastan, in addition to foiling a militant group's attempt to attack al-Rastan Dam guarding personnel.

The source added that an army unit killed in a qualitative operation a militant group in al-Ghasibiyeh village that was firing mortar shells on al-Dwier village, inflicting heavy losses upon them.

In Palmyra, army units clashed with members of a militant group that were trying to flee into the Jordanian territories near al-Tanf area, killing many and arresting others.

Also, army units destroyed two dens and a weapons cache of terrorists who belong to Al-Qaeda-linked ISIL in al-Dar al-Kabira town, killing many of them.
