Iran Volleyball Federation inks cooperation deal with UNICEF on fighting AIDS
Tehran, Dec 24, IRNA Iran?s Volleyball Federation on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understating with the United Nations Children?s Fund (UNICEF) and Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education for publicity campaign agaisnt AIDS.
Under the deal, the federation will hold educational courses and publicity campaign to draw attention of the youth to the deadly disease and print messages to that effect on t-shirts of the players raising youth awareness about the disease.

The deal was signed by the head of federation, Mohammad Reza Davarzani, general director of health ministry?s Department for Epidemic and head of UNICEF in Tehran, Mohammad al-Monir Safieddin.

Davarzani told the signing ceremony that education and publicity campaign will contribute a lot to control the disease in the world.

The World Volleyball League with over 40 million audience is a major event for publicity campaign on the disease, he said, noting that since Iran?s team is among top eight teams in 2014 games, it can help UNICEF advance its program to boost awareness of the young adults on AIDS.

In the meantime, Safieddin said that as Iran?s volleyball players serve a role model for the youth and young adults, they can act as good messengers in the campaign against AIDS.
