Iran advancing at World Youth Chess Championships

Tehran, Dec 24, IRNA Three Iranian chess players continued their brilliant performance at the 13th World Youth Chess Championships, winning their sixth point in seven consecutive matches after beating rivals.
Ali-Reza Firouzja (in the U-10 open category for boys), Pouya Idani (in U-18 open category for boys) and Sara Sadat Khadem-Sharieh (in U-16 open catogry for girls) gained the victory for Iran, grabbing a total of six points in seven matches, thus advancing to the eighth round on Tuesday.

Idani, who maintains his sole leadership of the Under-18 Open, is to face Spanish great chess master Anton Guijarro in the 8th round white beaded.

The Iranian chess players for the categories comprised 17 girls and 21 boys.

The 2013 World Youth Chess Championship (December 17-29) started in Al Ain, the UAE, with a record number of 1,850 participants.
