Orumiyeh, West Azarbaijan, Dec 24, IRNA - Priest of Assyrian Church of the East in Orumiyeh Daryavosh Azizian said on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the safest country for the religious minorities.

Talking to IRNA, he praised Iran?s efforts to attach great importance to religious minorities affairs.


The religious scholar reiterated that the Islamic Republic has always tried to promote academic, cultural, sports and social activities of Christians living in Iran.

He said it is ridiculous that some western states that create many restrictions for their own religious and ethnic minorities, have accused Iran of violating the rights of minorities.

Those countries that supply money and weapons to terrorist and extremist groups in the region have no right to talk about human rights, Azizian stressed.
