Tehran, Dec 23, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that the adoption of a UN resolution based on his World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) proposal testifies true image of Islam and Shiism.Addressing his cabinet, President Rouhani said the UN gesture provides a valuable opportunity to present true image of Islam and Shiism to the world people.
He said our duty is to change the image of Islam and Iran distorted by enemies in the past.

The UN General Assembly on December 18 overwhelmingly voted to Rouhanis WAVE proposal, which urges global denouncing of violence and extremism. The Iranian president raised the proposal in his address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25.
Under the resolution, the Assembly would urge all member states to unite against violence and extremism in all its forms and manifestations, as well as sectarian violence.
