Approval of Rouhaniˈs proposal at UN proves promotion of Iran intˈl status

Moscow, Dec 21, IRNA – Former Russian parliamentarian said Saturday that approval of President Hassan Rouhaniˈs proposal against violence and extremism at the United Nations indicates that Tehranˈs status has been promoted at the international arena.

Speaking to IRNA, Shamil Sultanov, once a deputy at Russiaˈs State Duma, said that approval of Iranˈs proposal by majority of votes at the UN was a diplomatic victory for the government of Presidnet Rouhani.

The UN General Assembly on Wednesday (December 18) overwhelmingly voted for President Rouhani’s proposal which calls on all nations across the globe to act agianst violence and extremism.

President Rouhani made the proposal in an address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25.

Sultanov said that the Iranian President succeeded to improve Iranˈs internatioal status in a short period of time which was hardly more than three months.
