Vatican delegation visited the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS)
SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) A delegation from Vatican which included First Deputy of the Pope Francis and the Head of Hajj Institution of Vatican as well as Deputy Arch Bishop of Iraq and a number of Christian scholars visited the shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in the holy city of Najaf in Iraq.
According to reports from the Iraqi Noon news corporation after the Ziarat ceremony, Sheikh Ziaul Deen Zainul Deen Secretary General of the holy shrine welcomed the Vatican delegation and said the Christians and Muslims in Iraq are parts of one nation.

He added that scholars of both religions should try to encourage people to a peaceful co-existence and respect for all the believers of the divine religions. At the same meeting Deputy Pope thanked the General Secretary of the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) and said as Italians we came here to visit the holy shrines and pray to God to grant peace and security to Iraq so the Iraqis can progress as one nation. He also expressed his happiness for having the honor of visiting the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) and hoped other Christians can have the opportunity to visit all holy shrines in Iraq.
