MKO members flee Camp Liberty

Baghdad, Dec 18, IRNA Some 17 members of terrorist Mojahedin Khalq Organization have fled the former US-held Camp Liberty near Baghdad International Airport since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year, an Iraqi informed source said on Wednesday.

Speaking to IRNA correspondent on condition of anonymity, the source said lack of information from the outside world and humane and emotional relations, intervention in members? private life, blind obedience and threat of being killed has made the MKO members flee the Camp.

In December 2011, the United Nations and Baghdad agreed to relocate some 3,000 MKO members from Camp Ashraf, now renamed Camp New Iraq to Camp Liberty.

The MKO is listed as a terrorist organization by a large part of the international community for committing numerous terrorist acts against Iranians and Iraqis.

The group fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq, where it received the support of Iraqs former dictator Saddam Hussein and set up a terror camp near the Iranian border.

Out of nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, 12,000 have fallen victims to the acts of terror carried out by the MKO.
