Nahavandian: Sanctions more harmful to west

Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA- Head of President Office Mohammad Nahavandian, in a meeting with Chairman of the Committee on Relations with Iran in the European Parliament Tarja Cronberg, underlined that the US-led western sanctions imposed against Iran will be harmful to the West itself.
The sanctions has made the European countries to suffer economically, Nahavandian said.

He stressed that Iran has made all its efforts in line with confidence-building measures and the European Union should also prioritize confidence-building measures.

Nahavandian pointed to the deep relations and the status of the European Union as Irans biggest trade partner, and expressed the hope that the two sides will prepare the grounds for further cooperation between the private sectors of the two sides in all fields.

He also assessed the recent visit of the European Parliament delegation to Tehran as positive in transferring a positive image from Iran to the EUs public opinion and politicians.

Cronberg, for her part, voiced her satisfaction with visiting Iran, and called for the further expansion of age-old relations with the EU.

She voiced EUs readiness to attain its previous status in trade relations with Iran, and said, It is now time ripe for removal of misunderstandings and some problems and political incidents should not result in undermining the bilateral ties.

Cronberg said that the EU members can enhance their relations in different political, economic and cultural fields.
