Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA An Iranian expert said the recent terrorist attack in Iraq on Iranian and Iraqi gas workers and technicians had political motivations.

An expert in the Middle East issues, Sabbah Zanganeh told IRNA on Tuesday that the attack was not motivated by religious sentiments but only had political reasons behind it.

Pointing out that the construction of a gas pipeline entailed many advantages for Iraqi developing economy, he said any attack on such projects means damaging Iraq?s national interests.

He believed that the Takfiri groups which are behind the attack may have used a religious pretext to cover up their political intentions.
