‘Lawrence of Arabia’ star Peter O
Celebrated British actor Peter O'Toole after suffering from a long illness has passed away at the age of 81, at the Wellington Hospital in London.
O'Toole, who shined in David Lean's 1962 film classicLawrence of Arabia, succumbed to stomach cancer after nearly ten years battle with the illness on Saturday, December 14, 2013.

Born in 1932 in Ireland, O'Toole grew up in the Yorkshire city before moving to London. He began his career in art by working in the theatre.

He is known with wide range of roles in his performances, from an acclaimed Lawrence of Arabia, through leading Shakespearean parts to comic roles in adaptations of PG Wodehouse, and his masterful title-role performance inJeffrey Bernard Is Unwel.

During his career he was nominated for eight Academy Awards without ever winning the top prize, though he received an honorary Oscar in 2003.

O’Toole won a string of Golden Globes in the Sixties for his performances in Becket, The Lion In Winter and Goodbye, Mr Chips.

Last year the renowned actor decided to retire or “chuck in the sponge” as he called it.
