UK, Swiss festivals to hold retrospective on Iranian cinema
The Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) and the Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) are scheduled to celebrate Iranian cinema.
The two European film festivals will present a retrospective on Iranian cinema titledThe History of Iranian Cinema by Its Creators.

The first part of the program is slated to take place during the 28th edition of Fribourg International Film Festival in Switzerland, in March, 2014.

Nearly 27 films created by 14 eminent Iranian filmmakers have been selected to enter the retrospective lineup. The movies are productions of the years from 1933 to 2006.

The second part of the retrospective on Iranian cinema will be held at the 68th Edinburgh International Film Festival, focusing on the new films by contemporary Iranian filmmakers.

Bahram Beyzaie, Amir Naderi, Bahman Ghobadi, Kaveh Bakhtiari, Asghar Farhadi and Seyyed Reza Mirkarimi are among the filmmakers whose films will be reviewed at the event.

The Fribourg International Film Festival is an annual film festival in Fribourg, Switzerland. It is focused on selected cultural films from Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The 28th edition of Fribourg International Film Festival will run from March 29 to April 5, 2014.

Established in 1947, the Edinburgh International Film Festival is also an annual fortnight of cinema screenings and related events taking place each June.

The festival is the world's oldest continually running film festival which presents both UK and international films.

The 68th Edinburgh International Film Festival is set to take place from June 18 to 29, 2014.
