Iran has active presence in 18th CWC Conference

Tehran, Dec 2, IRNA Iran will have active presence in 18th Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), foreign ministry spokeswoman said Sunday night.
Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs will in an address at that conference on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries reflect their basic viewpoints on the matter, she said.

The diplomat said that Iran, as a major victim of the chemical weapons usage by the former Iraqi regime, as everyone has confirmed, has always had a good participation in the negotiations and decision makings of the CWC).

The 18th Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) will be held as of Monday, December 2 (today) for a week at CWC Headquarters in the Hague.

Araqchi had earlier said that Iran will just as always have a strong presence at the CWC conference and give a lecture at it, on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) an Iran.

He said that discussions on Syria, too, will be made at the conference.

The Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention will hold its Eighteenth Session (CSP-18) from Monday, 2 to Friday, to 6 December 2013 at the World Forum Convention Center (WFCC) at Churchillplein 10, The Hague, the Netherlands, next to OPCW Headquarters.
