Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA Several Members of Parliament from specialized commissions for development and domestic affairs will embark on a visit to the earthquake-hit areas of Bushehr province by the weekend.
Vice Chairman of Majlis Domestic Affairs Commission Mohammad Ebrahim Rezaei told IRNA that the visit is aimed at sympathizing with the affected people and estimate the damages inflicted on the people to coordinate reconstruction.
He said that the MPs will provide a report to be presented to formal session of the parliament.
Rezaei further noted that the MPs will also evaluate the performance of Crisis Management Headquarters to see whether the body is capable to manage relief operations in the time of need and emergency.
At least eight people were killed and dozens wounded in an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale which struck the southern city of Borazjan.
According to the Iranian Seismological Center, the quake hit Borazjan, located 715 kilometers (444 miles) south of Tehran, at 17:21 hrs local time (1351 GMT).
Iran is located on seismic fault lines and is prone to earthquakes. It experiences at least one slight earthquake every day on average.
