'Genève deal impacts positively international academic cooperation'

TEHRAN, Dec. 1 (MNA) – The deputy minister of Science, Research, and Technology has evaluated Genève deal positively for Iran’s academic relations with world.
Arsalan Ghorbani told Mehr News that the deal would help revive academic relations with UK and US universities. He also evaluated Iran and Powers deal in Genève of positive effect on Iran’s academic exchanges. “Any development in foreign policy and Iran’s relations with powers will positively affect our academic cooperation,” he added.

Ghorbani however believed that Iran had relations with Powers before in terms of university transactions. “According to our science diplomacy, we would have relations with all countries except the Zionist regime, but political conflicts negatively affected scientific and academic cooperation,” he added.

The head of international academic cooperation center of the ministry also said that Genève deal had positively affected academic relations. “Iran has gradually received effective signals; however, it much depended on ourselves. We should begin cooperation somewhere and severed relations would not easily be resumed,” he said.

About what countries to resume academic cooperation, Ghorbani said that given the higher number of students and Muslim population in the UK as a lobbying power, the country was a priority in this issue.

He also set the priority for academic as well as political cooperation universities of the US and the UK.
