Tabriz, East Azarbaijan, Nov 27, IRNA � The First International Congress on Stroke opened in Tabriz Wednesday and will continue until November 29.
Academic secretary of the congress, Mehdi Farhoudi told the inaugural ceremony of the event that stroke is an international challenge, as one person gets stroke per two seconds in the world.


Currently, stroke is the second cause of death in the world, he said, noting that unfortunately, the number of Iranians suffering from the disease is on the increase.

Some 700 Iranian and foreign neurologists from the US, European states and neighboring states are participating in the ongoing event, Farhoudi said.

He also added that some 250 articles have been submitted to the secretariat of the congress which will be presented during the three-day congress.
