Iranian university student awarded by US Physics Association

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian-American Physicists (IrAP) granted Birouni Award to an Iranian student majoring physics in the US.
The award would be given in the March 2014 gathering of the IrAP in Colorado.

The first prize of the network was given to Ramis Movasagh, Iranian student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the second one was awarded to another Iranian student Hossein Mousavi from Texas University.

Abu al-Rayhan Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Biruni known as Alberonius in Latin and Al-Biruni in English, was a PersianMuslim scholar and polymath.

Al-Biruni is regarded as one of the greatest scholars of the medieval Islamic era and was well versed in physics, mathematics, astronomy, and natural sciences, and also distinguished himself as a historian, chronologist and linguist.

He was conversant in Khwarezmian, Persian, Arabic, Sanskrit, and also knew Greek, Hebrew and Syriac.
