Iranian short film to compete at Italian film festival

Iranian director Omid Abdollahis short productionGlimmeris to contend for awards at the Arcipelago International Festival of Shorts and New Images in Italy.
The film is slated to be screened at the international competition section of the festival that is dubbed Little Planet.

Glimmeris to be presented during two screening programs at the festival that will be held in the Italian capital city of Rome.

The film chronicles the story of an old optician who is going to close his optometry shop due to his weak eyesight and one of his clients who has not come to pick up her eyeglasses.

The movie has participated in a number of international festivals and received several awards such as Bronze Medal from Festival of Nations, Ebensee, in Austria and Jury Mention Special Prize from Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

Glimmeralso won the Jury Prize in the Short Fiction Competition at the 16th Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts in Egypt.

The films cinematographer Reza Teimouri was also nominated for his work at the 2013 Polish international independent film awards dubbed Grand OFF.

Born in 1978, Abdollahi is now a member of Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) and Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association.

The 21st edition of the festival will present short films, animation, documentary and experimental productions in three sections of International competition, National competition and Online.

The 2013 Arcipelago International Festival of Shorts and New Images will take place from December 2 to 6.
