Pakistan welcomes understanding on Iran nuclear issue

Islamabad, Nov 24, IRNA - Pakistan on Sunday welcomed the understanding reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and 5+1 in Geneva on Iran nuclear issue.
As a brotherly neighboring country of Iran, Pakistan has always underscored the importance of finding a peaceful solution to this issue, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.


We have also been stressing the need to avert confrontation over Irans nuclear program which had the potential to destabilize our region, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

He said that the understanding is an important development, which should augur well for peace and security in our region and the world at large.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced that Tehran and the six world powers (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) have struck the deal.

Meantime, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton confirmed that the two sided have reached an agreement.

French and British foreign ministers Laurent Fabius and William Hague have also confirmed the agreement which was reached after five days of difficult and intensive talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 in Geneva and after a decade-long standoff between the two sides.
