Serzh Sargsyan receives Iranian energy minister

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today a delegation led by Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian, the presidential press service said.

The president congratulated Hamid Chitchian on his appointment as energy minister and wished him success in that responsible position. “Our relations with Iran, as a reliable neighbor and a good friend, are developing. We consider these relations as special and want to deepen them. I think your visit to Armenia shows that the Iranian leadership has the same desire,” the president stated. He stressed that although the Armenian-Iranian relations are at a high level, there is much potential for their further development.

The interlocutors discussed the implementation of energy programs as part of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Minister Chitchian conveyed Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s warmest regards to the Armenian president and reaffirmed his country’s desire and readiness to deepen ties with the friendly Armenia, stressing that the development of relations with neighbors, including Armenia, is one of the priorities of the Iranian foreign policy. In the minister’s words, Iran and Armenia have very warm and good relations, which are strengthening year by year.
