Iran urges justice over embassy attacks
Iran President Hassan Rouhani says those responsible for the twin terrorist attacks on the Iranian Embassy in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, must be brought to justice.
In a telephone conversation with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Tuesday, Rouhani called for immediate identification of those behind the two blasts.

Rouhani added that the attacks were carried out by extremist groups provoked by foreign agents in order to fuel insecurity in the region, particularly in Lebanon.

The Iranian president also condoled with Suleiman and the Lebanese nation over the deaths and injuries of a number of people in the bombings.
The Lebanese leaders can maintain Lebanons unity and stability through their foresightedness, the Iranian president stated.
He described the Beirut blasts as an important issue for the Middle East region and stressed the significance of adopting coordinated measures to counter violence, extremism and terrorism.

At least 23 people were killed and more than 140 injured in twin explosions near the Iranian Embassy in Beirut's southern neighborhood of Janah on Tuesday.

According to Press TV sources, the first explosion took place when a bomber blew his explosives near the gate of the embassy, and the second blast happened just meters away when a car bomb went off.

The death toll is expected to rise, as many of the wounded are in critical condition.

Suleiman, for his part, condemned the terrorist attacks and said the Lebanese government would make its utmost efforts to identify and bring to justice those behind the bombings.

Abdullah Azzam Brigades, an al-Qaeda-linked group, has claimed responsibility for the twin blasts.
