Deputy FM: Moscow main partner of Tehran in resolving regional developments

Moscow, Nov 18, IRNA - Visiting Iranina Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, said here on Monday Moscow is the main partner of Tehran in resolving regional developments, the ongoing crisis in Syria for particular.
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putins special envoy for the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov.


Ways of settling the Syrian crisis through diplomatic means were also discussed in the meeting.

The two sides also emphasized that the Syrian conflict should be settled by the Syrians people themselves and only through negotiations.

Amir-Abdollahian underlined that halting violence in Syria is the perquisite for political negotiations on recent developments in the Arab country.

He also expressed his condolences to the Russian government and nation on the crash of Boeing-737 passenger plane in Qazan city in Tatarestan which claimed 50 lives.

Bogdanov, who is also Russias deputy foreign minister, for his part, stressed that Moscow welcomes exchange of views with Iran on recent regional developments, Syria in particular.

Amir-Abdollahian lef Tehran for Moscow on November 16 to meet and confer with Russian officials on regional issues and political mechanisms for ending Syrian crisis.
