Iran calls for swift destruction of chemical weapons removed from Syria
TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran's permanent representative at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Kazem Gharib-Abadicalled for the swift annihilation of chemical weapons, taken out of Syrian, under the OPCW supervision.
"Choosing the host country for annihilation of Syrian chemical weapons is of great importance," he said, adding the host country needs to possess the required potentials and infrastructures for the destruction of the arms based on safety, security and environment standards.

Speaking in the 34th OPCW executive council emergency meeting in Hague, Gharib-Abadi highlighted technical and precious experiences of Iranian experts in practicing Chemical Weapons Convention, and said Iran is ready to help Syria to annihilate its chemical weapons.

Gharib-Abadi also said the OPCW needs to precisely verify the annihilation process which is to be accomplished by the right time in the host country.

The Iranian official reiterated that the process should seek swift destruction of the arms, and not only bringing them out of Syria and sending them to another country.
