Deputy FM cautions western states to avoid repetitious remarks in upcoming Geneva talks

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian negotiator underlined the seriousness and good will of the country’s team of negotiators in the Geneva talks, and expressed the hope that the western countries would also show a positive attitude in the negotiations, and avoid repetitious statements.

Speaking to FNA, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and America Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi said, “Iran’s team of negotiators will attend the talks with good will and seriousness, and we hope that the other side will also have the same spirit.”

“We also hope that the subjects that were discussed in the second round of the Geneva talks will not be repeated (in the upcoming round) in a bid to be able to proceed with our work,” the diplomat said.

The latest round of talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) was held in Geneva from November 7-9.

The two sides did not reach an agreement but stressed that significant progress had been made and expressed optimism about the prospect of a possible deal in the future. They decided to continue their discussions on November 20.

Meanwhile, all diplomats present in Geneva had stressed that there has been progress in the nuclear talks with Iran.
