650 articles submitted to Intl Holy Quran Congress

Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi prov, Nov 17, IRNA Some 659 articles have so far been submitted to the secretariat of the First International Holy Quran Congress from around the world, said the chancellor of Mashhad Islamic Azad University.
Talking to reporters Sunday, Nasser Pariz added that the articles have been examined by the Jury of the congress, of which 256 articles were chosen for presentation during the two-day event slated to open in Mashhad on November 20.

Some 17 articles will be presented in English and Arabic languages, he said, noting that 28 foreign guests from Pakistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Algeria, Holland, Canada and Tunisia will take part in the congress.

The congress is the first of its kind to be held in Persian, Arabic and English languages, Pariz said.

Executive secretary of the congress, Seyyed Hossein Mohtashami, said that making the academic community familiar with Quranic sciences and teachings, preparing the ground for Islamic researches and presenting a true image of Shiite ideology are among the objectives of the upcoming event.
Promoting unity based on Quran, shunning sectarian unilateralism and countering anti-Quran campaigns are among other goals of the congress, he said.

Topics for discussion include contemporary challenges facing human beings and Islamic awakening, ethics, spirituality, human perfection, management, law and government, family and society, Islamic culture and civilization and religions, Mohtashami said.
