Iran, six powers need more time for deal: Araqchi

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi says Iran and the six major world powers held very constructive talks in the Swiss city of Geneva but require more time to reach an agreement.
The progress of the P5+1 talks with Iran in Geneva was very good and we hope [the talks] would reach a result in later stages, Araqchi, who is also a member of the Iranian negotiating team, told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.
We had very intensive and difficult negotiations in Geneva which were also very useful and constructive, he said, adding, We felt that another chance is needed in order for us to reach an agreement.
Iranian deputy foreign minister stated that Iran and the six countries could have reached a final agreement, but due to the existence of problems and differences of opinion between the two sides, particularly in the other sides team it was agreed to continue discussions in another meeting.

Araqchi said it would take time to coordinate the six countries different positions, concerns and interests.

The closed-door talks between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - Britain, Russia, China, France and the US - plus Germany, began in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday and continued for three days.

Araqchi further described a scheduled visit by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano to Iran as a turning point in ties between Tehran and the agency.
We hope negotiations which will take place tomorrow (Monday) in Tehran will lead to issuing and signing of an agreement between Iran and the agency, the Iranian official said.
The IAEA chief's planned talks with Iranian officials are separate form recent negotiations between Tehran and the six major world powers in the Swiss city of Geneva.

Araqchi said Iran has adopted a new approach to cooperation with IAEA since the beginning of the new round of talks with the agency two weeks ago, adding, We intend to continue our cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency within a specific framework.

Iran and the UN nuclear agency wrapped up two days of negotiations in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on October 29, which was described afterwards as very productive by both sides.

In a meeting with Amano on October 28, Araqchi presented the Islamic Republics new approach to its nuclear energy program.
