Russian FM in Geneva for nuclear talks

Geneva, Nov 9, IRNA Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived here on Saturday to attend the ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and representatives of the Group 5+1.

The new round of Iran-5+1 talks started in this Swiss city on November 7.

The talks were primarily held at the level of deputy foreign ministers but its increasing intensity and seriousness forced the sextet foreign ministers to join the gathering.

So far, John Kerry of the US, Laurent Fabius of france, Guido Westerwelle of Germany and William Hague of Britain have arrived in Geneva.

If the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi fails to attend the talks because of the 11-hour distance between Beijing and Geneva, then a senior Chinese diplomat would replace him.

Currently, the participating delegations are consulting with their capitals on a draft agreement to be made at the end of the talks.
