New York, Oct 9, IRNA – Iran’s deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gholamhossein Dehqani said the Security Council has not been successful in maintaining international peace and security.
The Iranian diplomat made the remarks while talking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) here on Friday evening local time.
He stressed the need for reforms in the Security Council’s structure and said that the council, given its present members and strategy, has not been successful in its mission.
Considering the council’s performance, the world developments, rising of new chances and challenges, he noted that almost all UN members share the idea of the necessary changes in the UNSC structure.
