Blatter lends support to Iran Asian Cup bid

The FIFA president Sepp Blatter is in the Iranian capital of Tehran, attending a conference on football, called “Science and Football”. The FIFA President also met the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and gave his support to Iran’s bid to host the 2019 Asian Cup.

Iran, who are ranked 49th in the World, have won consecutive Asian Cups in 1968, 1972 and 1976, and the Asian country also has qualified four times for the World Cup, including next year’s tournament in Brazil. Something Blatter said will give the whole country a boost.

“Let’s look forward with your national team, when I had the opportunity to speak with your president, the national team will be the best ambassadors of your country. All the players, coaches, and the environment, they will be in the world through television, because there is no other event like the World Cup and through the World Cup you’ll have such a projection in the world,” Blatter says.
