Afghan President holds talks with British MPs

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has in a meeting with a British parliamentary delegation reiterated that Kabul will stick to its pre-conditions before signing a security pact with the US.
The office of Karzai, who is visiting Britain, said in a statement that he and a delegation of British lawmakers discussed the security pact between Afghanistan and the US, the future presidential election of Afghanistan and the training of Afghan forces, IRIB reported.

Respecting the national sovereignty of Afghanistan and strengthening peace and security in the country are among the core conditions of Kabul for signing of the security pact with Washington, Karzai said.

According to the report, the British parliamentary delegation in turn pledged continuance of support for Afghanistan to reinforce and equip Afghan forces.

The Afghan president is visiting Britain for the trilateral talks to be held in London on Tuesday with the participation of the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The trilateral summit follows the February meeting hosted by Cameron and focuses on stability in the south Asia region.
