President urged to introduce new nominee for sports and youth portfolio

Tehran, Oct 27, IRNA— Mjalis Speaker Ali Larijani on Sunday called on President Hassan Rouhani to introduce a new nominee for the portfolio of the sports and youth ministry to Majlis at the earliest.

He made the request after Majils rejected Reza Salehi Amiri, the candidate to undertake the job of minister of sports and youth.

Larijani said that Sports and Youth Ministry has been run by a caretaker for three months and the president should propose a new nominee to Mjalis as soon as possible.

Ali Asgahr Fani and Reza Farajidana won votes of confidence from Majlis on Sunday as the new minister of education and minister of science, research and technology respectively, but, Salhi Amiri failed.

During a four-day debate in August, Majlis approved the credentials of 15 out of 18 nominees introduced by President Rouhani for his cabinet.

Two other ministers got vote of confidence on Sunday leaving one more vacancy for completion of the cabinet.
