TEHRAN (FNA)- Cuba reiterated its rejection of the military option in Syria, renewing call for a peaceful solution to the crisis and respecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria.
Cuba's Permanent Representative to the UN Oscar Leon Gonzalez stressed Tuesday the Syrian people's right to self-determination without foreign interferences, denouncing some countries' endeavors to destabilize Syria by supporting the terrorist groups in it, Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
He also condemned the involvement of media in the war against Syria through instigation and falsification of facts and refraining from shedding light on the acts of sabotage and terrorism committed by the armed groups in the country.
He expressed his country's support for solving the crisis in Syria peacefully, affirming his rejection of using the concept of protection of civilians to justify foreign intervention in Syria.
The Cuban Ambassador voiced his country's welcome of Syria's accession to the Chemical Weapons Convention, noting that Israel is still the main obstacle in the way of freeing the Middle East region of weapons of mass destruction.
